How to Make San Giorgio Lasagna
There’s a lot to love about eating lasagna from the comfort of your own kitchen. The recipe for this dish is simple, yet incredibly complex. To prepare it you need to start with ground beef, tomato sauce and lasagna noodles.
You also need quality vegetables and pasta. Once you have this together you need to boil them all together in hot water. Once they are cooked and ready to eat, you need to bake them in the oven.
- Ground beef, 1 pound
- Spaghetti sauce (about 28-oz. jar), 3 cups
- Uncooked SAN GIORGIO LASAGNA (about 16 oz.), 16 pieces
- Ricotta cheese (2 pounds), 4 cups
- Shredded mozzarella cheese (divided), 2 cups -8 oz.
- Grated parmesan cheese, 1/4 cup
- 2 Eggs
- Chopped fresh parsley, 1 tablespoon
- Salt, 1 teaspoon
- Ground black pepper, 1/4 teaspoon
Step-by-step instructions for Lasagna San Giorgio
Brown the beef in a large pan; drain.Mix the spaghetti sauce and simmer for 10 minutes.
Cook the pasta according to package directions; drain well.
Spread the noodles on aluminum foil to cool.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. In a large bowl, combine ricotta cheese, 1-1/2 cups mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese, eggs, parsley, salt and pepper. Step 3 Spread just over 1/3 cup of the meat sauce over the bottom of a 13 x 9 x 2 inch glass baking pan. Lay 4 pieces of pasta lengthways over the sauce, overlapping the edges. Step 4 Cover the pasta with a third of the cheese mixture; then top up with about 3/4 cup sauce. Layer TWICE, starting and ending with pasta.
Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese and additional Parmesan cheese, if desired, over the remaining meat sauce. Cover well with aluminum foil. Step 6 Make sure the mixture is hot and bubbly after 45 minutes.
Remove foil and bake for a further 10 minutes or until lightly golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes.
